What is a Stealth Renunciate? That means, defining her life by a serious commitment to live, inwardly, like a nun. Looking like a respectable householder though, rather than wearing a traditional Franciscan habit, like one of my TM students back in the day.
Do any of you remember those Franciscan habits?
A Stealth Renunciate is not an official nun or monk. Not cloistered. Nor having the support of belonging to any religious order. If possible, doing this with integrity is even harder than living in a convent, monastery, or ashram.
Right in the first chakra databank being researched, again, bam! There it is, full force. Like any true renunciate, inwardly, Joan Marie has blanked out her special excellences. Talents that otherwise would have been hers to enjoy more fully for this lifetime.
Such was the power of her intent to live for God, and God alone, serving people spiritually for as long as she could: Serving people spiritually in every way that she could.

Rather, this is what I discovered when delving into the subconscious and energetic information within this chakra databank.
About this sacred disappearing act, hidden from view, some of you may find the very idea to be squirm-inducing. In which case, you might wish to stop this article immediately, and move on to thing else you’ll enjoy more.

During her life, Joan studied the great New Age teachers and also the transcribed readings of another deeply religious person who did channeled readings from 1920 until 1945. This was Edgar Cayce, the sleeping prophet.
(My understanding from this research is that) Joan Marie developed expert knowledge of these spiritual teachings. Sometimes she taught them directly to students who were interested. Other times, most likely, Joan privately affirmed the various teachings to herself.

Now that I think of it, many religious people I know keep around visual reminders of what is lit up within them as a priority, their faith.
From Joan’s photos on Facebook, I got the impression that wherever she lived — and whether she stayed for a short time or longer — Joan would turn it into a beauty place. Her kind of sacred shrine.
Would most visitors ever notice that? Or might they assume that she was simply a talented housekeeper. You know, an old-fashioned woman, in the tradition that many of us seniors – like Joan and me – were raised to follow back in the day: “The good wife should be a good housekeeper.”
In similar fashion, my real-life neighbors don’t only design their interior lives to show impeccable faith. Physically they decorate their homes with their religions kind of sacred reminders. They display their religion through visual reminders like:
- Bible verses, embroidered, and artistically framed on the walls.
- Crosses of various sizes, and made of different materials.
- Statues of The Blessed Virgin or St. Francis or other sacred companions, keeping my friends company as they await their Heavenly reward.
Joan didn’t show off outwardly, ever, about her relationship with God. Let alone reveal in so many words how she was a Stealth Nun. Although those who knew her better than I did? They might have known.

In true renunciate fashion, Joan Marie Barringer doesn’t want to shine brighter than other people. She aims to stay in the background, helping and serving.
In Conclusion
Are you surprised? Were you expecting a whole lot more special excellences that were available to Joan Marie in this lifetime?
Reading this chakra databank can, for many people, be the most fun of all. But life as a renunciate, including as a Stealth Nun, is the opposite of being special-and-sparkly as a human soul expression. More specialness would have developed, I suspect, had she chosen householder life. But she didn’t, did she?
Personally, I was quite surprised by today’s aura research of Joan. On Facebook, she showed herself as unfailingly cheerful. Busily photographing * cooking * gardening * entertaining. Clearly, Joan was also very involved in spiritual teaching, which she kept doing actively; modestly, she seldom referred to all that she did.
It would round out our picture of Joan Marie if some of you would tell stories about how she helped you, and named organizations where she worked. (In addition to what I add in the first COMMENTS below.)
What surprised me, then? Two things.
First, until researching our very first Personhood Chakra Databank, I had no clue that she was living as a Stealth Renunciate.
Second, it can always be surprising for me when I explore renunciates at aura level, and witness that particular person’s way of emptying out. Yes, emptying out, so that God can shine all the brighter in this world.
Come to think of it, this may be the first time I’ve published an aura reading of any renunciate, except for some folks in Traditional Enlightenment. So, I’m especially curious to know your reactions. Just because I’m very familiar with this way of life doesn’t mean that most of you are. So please, everyone, COMMENT away.

You see, I’ve done my best to write this article for those of you who never knew Joan, as well as those of you who did.
Usually I sprinkle many interactive questions throughout an article like this. But this time I’m simply going to sprinkle most of the questions in one place. Here! For you to answer at will.
Question 1. About Joan as an Empath
I have been able to research Joan Marie Barringer’s sensitivity on the Energy Spirituality SENSITIVITY SCALE. She was an empath. That means, somebody who has at least one significant lifelong gift for directly experiencing what it is like to be a different person.
For you friends of Joan, did any of you happen to know — or guess — that she was an empath? Maybe you have some stories to tell about that.
2. About Joan’s Empath Gifts
As some of you may know, as the founder of Empath Empowerment®, I have identified 15 different gifts that an empath might have.
Since I’m an Empath Coach, I can accurately discern which gifts Joan had. Were she still alive I wouldn’t tell her, or anybody. Not unless she was a very famous public figure. Even then I’ve only rarely done that kind of blogging.
But now is different. Ethically it is fine for me to research this information and share it through comments below, since this lifetime is over.

3. Knowing Stealth Monks or Nuns
Joan Marie Barringer did something rare by living outside a cloister, as what I’ve called a “Stealth Renunciate.” Assuming that today’s research into her Personhood Chakra Databanks is accurate, as it generally is . . . .
Here’s a question to you friends of Joan: Did you ever notice this about her? Do you remember when you noticed, and why? Also, did you ever discuss her being an empath?
4. Know Any Other Real-Life Stealth Renunciates?
Come to think of it, have you ever been friends with somebody who might have secretly been a Stealth Monk or Stealth Nun?
People don’t brag about that, you know. Braggy monks or nuns do not really exist, do they? If somebody is a Stealth Renunciate, how could you tell?
Incidentally, during this article I have assumed that all of you have a clear understanding of the difference between renunciates and householders. But if any of you would like to learn more, COMMENT and ask.
And would any of you be interested in finding out why I have the standing to write about that? Again, just ask.
5. Are You, Personally, a Former Renunciate?
That would be a person who has taken vows and has lived in a secluded religious community. It really is a different kind of life, compared to householder life.
Speaking as somebody who’s facilitated quality past-life regressions until the Covid-19 Pandemic, I have many such stories to tell. Only I can’t. Those sessions were confidential. Suffice it to say, if you’re a mature soul, you’ve lived that way in one or more of your previous incarnations.

6. It’s Rare, Getting to Know a Reununciate. But . . . .
Maybe you know some renunciates who live in an order right now. That would include established religions and also followers of gurus who teach Westerners, such as Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.
Personally, I think that Ravi’s honorific is so over the top, it even makes Maharishi’s honorific seem modest by comparison.
- Maharishi’s formal title was His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.
- Allegedly, Shankar’s followers refer to him as “Sri Sri.” (Pronounced SHREE-SHREE.) But his full title is Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. According to my understanding, that honorific means “Gloriously, gloriously in Traditional Enlightenment.”
Given my background, I’m out-of-touch friends with some of these lovers of God. Besides that, I have one extremely close friend, and another dear friend, who have taken vows and live as “lifers” at Maharishi’s ashram in India.
Do you have any idea how hard that kind of life can be? Directly or indirectly, have you heard any stories that showed just how much renunciates have to sacrifice? Do tell.
Incidentally, if any of you ask, I can share what I learned about one nun who would have liked to leave her order. And what she told me about why she couldn’t.
6. Ex-Monks, Ex-Nuns, Ex-Priests Among Us
According to a recent study, fewer than 1% of nuns in America are under 40. While the average sister is 80 years old.
Thus, more of these exes live among us than you might think. Many never entered a convent in the first way. Either way, who knows how many “ordinary” people are living as Stealth Ex-Monks, Stealth Ex-Nuns, and Stealth Ex-Priests?
Still, you might know somebody like my childhood acquaintence Janie, who was raised in a very devout Catholic family. After graduating from high school, she entered a convent.
Decades later, that convent “went out of business.” (In recent years, many monasteries and convents have had to shutter their sacred doors.) Janie had to choose whether to find another compatible convent or to go out into the world. She chose to live in the world. It was hard.
How often do you encounter such tales? Not often. If you have some, it might feel good to share. Your stories could also bring more understanding to spiritual idealists who are reading this blogpost.

Rose Rosetree’s Standing to Teach Aura Reading & Energetic Literacy
Let’s have a new kind of fun with this topic. Last week an AI summary (on my computer) gave a pretty strong acknowledge of my standing to do aura reading. How pleasant a surprise was that? Yes, this article was excellent news. Both for me, and for all who care to spread the word about Energy Spirituality®. Still, AI got a lot wrong. Today I thought it would be fun to upgrade a version of the AI summary – without the mistakes and confusions. Here goes.

MELISSA, what an excellent reminder from YOU. This is one reason I love aura reading — that is, at least Stage 3 Energetic Literacy, not the old-fashioned vibe people out or see the colours or do a chakra reading.
Even those these Age of Faith aura skills feel very special to do, they’re incomplete and inaccurate.

Her closest friend was Anna. They lived together for more than 30 years.
Once I asked Joan Marie, delicately, “Oh, so you’re in a relationship.”
Joan answered, “I wish. We weren’t attracted to each other physically.”
Joan Marie served as Minister, Motivational Speaker, and Artist at Studio of Natural Arts.
She worked as a Metaphysical Minister andTherapist, and faciltiated Holistic Healing.
Joan Marie also published one book, for which she was the author and also the cover designer:
“Magic for Manifesting: Simple Techniques for Realizing Your Dreams”.

After I read this blogpost I did an errand.
On my way home I saw that a neighbor’s house has a large cross, right on the front door. I never noticed it before. Must have been eight inches tall and it looked very elaborate, chunky.
It’s interesting how people can do their relationship with God on the outside in public, or on the inside, or both, or neither.
That was my big takeaway from this article.
Well noted, NOREEN WILEY. Seems to me, each person’s relationship with God is a deeply private mystery.
As for religious decorations on the front door, or elsewhere, these don’t necessarily mean the house ownher has much of an inner relationship with self. Or with God.

This blog can give us some benefits of spiritual tourism. Maybe sparing some of us some Future Incarnations that would have to have been designed to teach us about the joys and limitations of living as a Half-and-Half Renunciate.
While relatively few people on Earth have planned, or are planning, for lifetimes as Stealth Renunciates.
It’s important to go into the differences between these two ways of living on Earth.
Sure most humans, married or divorced or single, will live and die as householders. A householder is a person who gets involved in society, values living and loving, enjoys the good things that money can buy.
Few householders actively choose to live and die as virgins. For that matter, we’d prefer lives that do not require poverty and obedience.
By contrast, both Half-and-Half Renunciates and Stealth Renunciates mainly prefer God.
Not that I think Half-and-Half Renunciates set their priorities on purpose. I know that I didn’t, back when I was one.
But sometimes a person’s desire for God is so strong. Much of the time we may actively feel Homesick for Heaven. Not just SOME of the time but MOST of the time.
Whatever the reasons for living as a Half-and-Half Renunciate, and there may be many, the consequences tends to include detachment from regular human life, its joys and sorrows, its achievements.
An example would be the idea, supposedly from Jesus, to be “in this world, but not of it.”
Personally, I’m not convinced that Jesus ever said such a thing.
As eternal souls, we’re free to incarnate in many different astral worlds, or this human one.
Or we might prefer to simply stay in our Heaven and incarnate seldom, or never at all.
To me, it’s How Reincarnation Works 101. The soul incarnates into a lifetime, such as the one each of us is having now at Earth School.
A person, having a unique individuality, is never OF the world. That’s more how it is to have a lifetime as a cat or dog, or all the non-human animals here on Earth. Best as I understand it, each of these animals is part of a group soul but doesn’t have an individual soul. Period.
In my opinion as an Enlightenment Coach, human souls evolve much more slowly as Half-and-Half Renunciates, and generally gain less success in the world with their half-hearted attempts to fit in, all the while not really desiring to fit in well.
Lessons abound, learning abound. Just that the Half-and-Half Renunciate may not grow much, either emotionally or spiritually.
By contrast, let’s consider life as one of humanity’s rare Stealth Renunciates. For this kind of inner arrangement, the soul would prefer to live in a convent or monastery or ashram. Only none are to be found.
For Joan, there was no Unity (religion) ashram. There was no Edgar Cayce convent. So she had to make up her own secret version. Not a secret from God, just a secret from humans.
By definition, one would have to be secretive about such a way of life. The friends and family members couldn’t be told. Most likely they would feel shocked, be puzzled, and never let the Stealth Renunciate fit in again.
Therefore, the Stealth Renunciate would have an arrangement with God, and with few (if any) trusted humans involved.

Soon as I began to research the first chakra databank in this Personhood Array of Chakra Databanks, as I wrote: “Bam!”
The deep seclusion hit me. As if she lived truly apart from humanity, lived in service to humanity, didn’t care much whether she was fully human or not.
How was Joan’s aura different? How were her chakra databanks different?
A renunciate, including a Stealth Renunciate, is as different from other humans as chalk and cheese. (I love that British saying. It’s rare, isn’t it? To find commonplace phrases for two people who are totally different from each other.)
Your best way to learn about this difference, MEG, is to use your excellent skills at energetic literacy. (Yes, I know you have them.) Research some of Joan’s chakra databanks for yourself.
Then you’ll experience the quality for yourself. Later you can think about the difference between what you found at Joan’s chakra databanks, compared to other people you might aura-research.
What else can I offer? Especially because I know exactly which of you have studied the system of Aura Reading Through All Your Senses® and which of you haven’t.

I could research a few chakra databanks on the older one for you. A true renunciate!
As for the other sister, I did aura-research her a bit – only Third Eye Chakra Databanks available, due to the cute camera angle.
However, that was enough to suggest that she may not remain a nun for long. According to my perception, she’s a lesbian. Who is running away from that through extra-intense Catholicism. Sigh!
Maybe learning a bit more about a different renunciate’s chakra databanks will help to clarify the very different quality, which can be found in a true renunciate. Whether officially part of an order or else, very rarely, a Stealth Renunciate.

To me, what’s most exciting about researching auras with Stage 3 Energetic Literacy, for insights like those available from the new array of Personhood Chakra Databanks? Two things, actually:
* The range of information, which appropriately reveals SUBCONSCIOUS secrets about the person.
* And the accuracy! Again and again, my clients praise this aspect of what I have to tell them about their own auras and also about the auras of other people they know, to some extent.
For this it helps that, unlike most ways that folks today see auras, etc., when using the system of Aura Reading Through All Your Senses®, you learn how to cocreate with God or Jesus or whichever is your choice of Divine Beings.
They help the aura reader to learn things that ordinarily might have more spiritual truth than is common for us silly humans.

She sounds like she would have been a great friend to have.
Well, HORATIO, that didn’t exactly work out. I was very fond of her, though.
She was mainly interested in teaching the New Age teachings. After a while, it must have become clear to her that I was not going to be one of her students. Although unfailingly polite, toward me she was distant.
By contrast, I am open to friendship with people whose beliefs and practices are different from mine. And I don’t have to treat them like my session clients or students of Energy Spirituality®.
Joan was a very strong believer in being positive to everyone, so she never communicated a harsh word. But it seemed to me that she shut down. And shut me out. Very uninformative!
Still, for her friends, yes, I’ll bet that Joan Marie Barringer was a magnificent, generous friend.
Reading your description of sessions of psychotherapy in Comments #74-78, I’m so glad that personal sessions of Energy Spirituality® are not like that!
I would not want sit with someone who showed no emotion or expression, while I would be expected to pour my heart out as part of the treatment.
And all the while the therapist not telling me about the diagnosis *or* the treatment plan.
Interesting, yes? In terms of mainstream culture, it appears that people either don’t know about this and/or they put that information “into denial.”

Personhood is so much bigger than that.

Seems to me, trying to express one’s Personhood through fashion is akin to trying to pour 500 pounds of sugar into a 1-pound bag.

Reading your Comments starting at Comment #19, I had an a-ha at almost every sentence.
One is how much spirituality and religion have been influenced by renunciate teachings, though usually not labeled as such.
Renunciate teachings and Age of Faith religious teachings seem to be more about fitting into a particular path that probably doesn’t have much to do with your individual Personhood… and is often about blanking out your personhood in a particular way with the intent to be holy or pure instead.
When it comes to “fitting in”… Living in Age of Awakening Enlightenment and having regular sessions of Energy Spirituality (which help me to learn about and strengthen my Personhood), I’m finding I become more and more myself, let my talents and individuality shine more and more, use them more and more… and as a result I pick up more and more momentum in my human life.
This is so different from a path where you blank out your Personhood in a renunciate-type way.
