First of All, Health Problems Are Not HUMAN Problems
That matters because, when most of us first encountered any energy healing practices, guess what? Aside from the big promises for improving everything, that healing was really about:
- Energy. Like, “Energy healing” would mean something to human beings.
- Such as moving out the bad energy, then moving in the good energy
- Supposedly, clearing out the old, bad energy would fix everything. Even “Heal Your Life.“
- Alternatively, through church, you’d receive laying on of hands. Of course, results for that would depend on your faith.
- Basically, though faith-based healing was really energy healing. Where God was considered to be the source of that energy.

What we need now, in this Age of Awakening, differs from yesteryear’s faith-based requirements.
Sad but UNtrue. Sorry, but those sweet practices for energy healing don’t keep their promises. And why not?
Because We Do Better than Age of Faith Energy Healing
Primarily the above-mentioned five points are about fixing your energy.
Secondarily they help with physical healing. And that’s great, if that really happens.
Regardless, though, does physical healing count as HUMAN healing?
Arguably not. Healing our physical bodies counts as ANIMAL healing, imo. Since we live in human-type animal bodies.
Whereas human problems, everyday problems, terrible problems — none of these happen to elephants, horses, or turtles.
HUMAN problems at Earth School — that’s what you’ve got to deal with every day of your life. Let’s admit that,
If we really seek improvement from energy healing, hello! Time to stop confusing ourselves with those outdated wishey-hopey notions.
In reality, solving HUMAN problems demands more from energy healing. For instance, all the problems in our Tardis Quiz are about HUMAN, not about energy, right? So let’s be clear:
Solving HUMAN Problems Starts by Debunking Well-Meant False Promises
Namely, the allure of mind-body-spirit: During the New Age Years, millions of folks discovered that they were energy sensitive. Once the Age of Awakening clicked in, anybody with normal mental functioning could feel energies… if they wanted to.
No wonder, enthusiasm over energy healing rose to fever pitch. In particular, energy healers who were active then… and since then… what I call “New Age Energy Healers”…
Idealistic as well as enthusiastic, these healers believed that mind-body-spirit were all connected. So techniques like Reiki, Pranic Healing, and Crystal Healing weren’t just mainly ways to bring energy healing to the body. Supposedly, folks became instant experts at “healing” people: physically, emotionally and spiritually.
Maybe you’ve seen the series of blog posts I published, debunking that pretty-seeming promise. Actually, hey! I’ll provide links to these articles in COMMENTS below.

“NOW” Meaning During this Age of Awakening

Reality is complex. Any object you can see right now has fractal complexity to it – its molecular structure, its geometry, its history etc – even if the object appears simple on the surface.
Human anatomy and physiology is deeply complex on a physical level. Consequently, beneficial medical interventions for our physical forms routinely require commensurate complexity.
Take the development of mRNA vaccines, for instance.
If we believe that the human form also has energetic anatomy & physiology (such as meridians, chakras, nadis and others), why on earth would we assume that these components are simple, in contrast to the physical components?
Wouldn’t it be far more sensible to assume commensurate complexity in the human energy field?
Consequently, effective methods for energy healing require a certain degree of complexity. This is not to be fancy or elitist, but simply because complex systems demand complex understanding.
That said (eloquently — thanks again, THEODORE), let’s consider three pretty shortcomings to New Age Energy Healing methods. Especially since they purport to help clients emotionally and spiritually.
Enter Energy Spirituality™
During the New Age Years I studied many energy healing systems. How I loved my sweet-and-positive teachers!
Nevertheless, this is important to understand. Now that we’re in the Age of Awakening, what kind of energy healing solves problems that aren’t about health?
It won’t be Healing Touch, Eden Energy Medicine, Quantum Healing, or other well-meaning mind-body-spirit modalities.
Energy Spirituality aims to supply what’s conspicuously missing:
Energy Spirituality helps people like you with emotional growth and spiritual awakening.
Using energy skills that work now, in the Age of Awakening.
Of course, this isn’t the only effective way to help folks with personal growth, etc. But the three following requirements are pretty darned necessary for anybody who hangs out a shingle NOW, aiming to help with today’s energy healing.

Requirement #1. Full Energetic Literacy
Look, I’ve known professional teachers of energy healing who couldn’t read auras at all. Others could find quite a lot of detail, aurically, about health ailments.
However, not a single one of these teachers — including some very famous ones — had developed Stage 3 Energetic Literacy. Meaning, they couldn’t read a single chakra databank.
If you’re aiming to help folks with personal growth and spiritual awakening? That kind of literacy is required.
Of course, I don’t mean yesterday’s “See the Colours” aura reading.
Definitely not psychic readings either, delivering “chakra readings.”
With today’s essential skills for energetic literacy, you can learn about all the following. And much, much more:
See what I mean about HUMAN? Energy healing skills can help with problems in any of these three areas. But desired results don’t just happen because “God is good” or “It’s all about energy.”

Requirement #2. Seeking Emotional Growth
First of all, psychology and psychotherapy certainly have their place in helping folks. Mental health professionals have the right to claim they facilitate emotional healing.
I sure don’t. Nor, imo, does any other expert in any kind of energy healing. (Including Energy Psychology — aka EFT and Tapping.)
Energy Spirituality™ does aim for emotional growth, however. It’s important to understand this approach as totally different from psychotherapy.
All that said, emotional growth sure can accelerate as a result of energy healing skills like these.
Funnily enough, at this time, I don’t yet find other energy healing experts providing… effective alternatives to the 10 trademarked systems of Energy Spirituality.

Such a holy mess! Blog-Buddies, for years I’ve helped some of my clients to clean up the mess created — unintentionally — by New Age energy healers.
If I had to identify the most important common denominator in those messes, hello! That would involve sourcing.
- Name me a single system for New Age energy healing that involves effective skills for cocreating with the Divine.
- Otherwise, the energy healer is at risk for being strongly influenced by astral spirits.
- And if you’ve been following my research into consciousness lifestyles, ouchers! You know how badly New Age energy healers are doing. (What you haven’t been following that? Maybe start today. Click on that link I’ve just given you.)
BTW, In Case You’re not Sure
What WERE “The New Age Years”?
Between 1980 and the Shift on 12/21/12 — that’s when.
Just in case this perspective is helpful, these New Age Years came at the tail end of the Age of Faith.
Afterward, humanity moved into the Age of Awakening. Something that you can’t really avoid knowing about. At least the essentials!
Don’t skip over “Age of Awakening” as though this were something weird or cultish. Doesn’t have to be.
Besides, this knowledge is vital if you’re interested in any form of energy healing.
In my opinion, anyway, it’s vital to understand what we need for the future of energy healing. And also what can bring us good results in the present.
You know, like solving HUMAN problems with energy healing.

If I remember right that was supposed to be Universal Energy.
MELISSA, thank you for enriching our conversation here yet again. This goes with my recollection as well.
Reiki attunements were supposed to bring us that wonderful “Universal” energy.
Whereas if we tried using the Reiki positions and hadn’t become Reiki channels, we’d be using up our personal energy… And as a result, we would get “drained.”
Here I am again. Rose I don’t see what you have against Reiki.
That Universal Energy does come from Spirit. I’ve felt it through my hands every time. Who are you to say that isn’t from Spirit?
I loved studying Healing Touch and I really wanted it to help. I took two workshops and the teachers were just lovely. The whole process seemed very spiritually pure to me.
The way I remember it, there was a very accepting culture in those workshops. My instructors never labeled the energy. They just taught us to use it.
It feels a little disloyal for me to write this next part but I felt like techniques like Pain Drain would patch me up a little, which was nice. Otherwise though? I didn’t get big results for physical healing.
And this last thing I have to say may seem ungrateful or even judgmental.
Anyway, I was not impressed with the balance of the friends I kept in touch with after my workshops. They were good people but it didn’t seem as though they were growing much. Just me, but they seemed to be kid of spaced out.
I guess what I’m trying to say is that there was a lot in the Healing Touch culture about how everybody could grow in body, mind and spirit. Sorry, very sorry, but I didn’t see much evidence of that in myself and my Healing Touch friends. It was more like falling in love with a beautiful promise.

The distinction between animal healing and human healing is really interesting!
Regarding Requirement #1, yes I think that Stage 3 Energetic Literacy is a requirement for helping people with personal growth and spiritual awakening.
Firstly because they are taking a one size fits all approach and not treating people like individuals. Secondly, there are so many confusions and so much mislabelling of problems here at Earth school that I very much doubt they would know what the person is having a problem with or be able to advise them to grow.
I’ve been having Energy Spirituality sessions for quite a while and still sometimes I have used something from pop psychology to explain something.
Sometimes I’ve used one of the low hanging fruits in collective consciousness to help me describe a problem.
Aura reading and Energy Spirituality have enabled me to actually label things correctly and that is the first step to actually solving the problem.
The past year or so I have been better able to identify when I have slipped into using something from pop psychology.
It didn’t help that I spent a long time studying psychology….
It DOES help that I have taken the New Strong 102 Online Workshop and am currently taking the New Strong 103!
And if I, who have had the benefit of many sessions of Energy Spirituality can repeatedly slip into mislabelling things, I can fully imagine that someone who cannot use Stage 3 Energetic Literacy in their work would do plenty of the same.
Relatedly, I love Theodore’s comment.
The inherent complexity (just think about the number of types of STUFF identified so far) of a human being’s aura and who-you-be, means that aura reading to the level of chakra databanks is essential for really effective energy healing now.
ANNE, you’ve made so many important points here. Especially interesting to me are the combo of your Comments #17 and 18. Funny think about pulling out those clichés from Collective Consciousness!
Seems to me, these random bits of pop psychology aren’t just easy to call to mind. Saying them make us look — and maybe feel — wise. As if we just graduated from the School of Oprah, so now we’re fully qualified to help ourselves and others as psychotherapists.
However these “answers” and self-diagnoses don’t necessarily help us, especially when folks mix them in with energy healing. You’ll see examples of this at just about all of our Discernment Jamborees here at this blog.
One consumer tip for choosing an energy healer might be to pay attention to this very point. At the energy healer’s website and social media communications….
Does that ENERGY HEALER often use words from psychology? Already you know what they mean, since they’re part of pop culture. It’s easy to take an extra step now and learn to recognize these words them as such.
Although raised in America I grew up with meditation and Ayurveda. Both were supposed to help me.
As I remember people were a little vague about how the healing part was supposed to work.
With the meditation, if you did it right, automatically you would dissolve stress and other impurities, “The cause of all illness.”
With the Ayurveda, you would lie there patiently, having the oil drip on your forehead and trying to be a good sport. Not too many results for me there.
At the time I probably thought I wasn’t spiritual enough to get results, or else I just had way too much vata in my system.

Ayurveda is like acupuncture, thousands of years old, and one of the very best of the ancient healing modalities. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think it makes any claims other than for physical healing; healing that might perhaps spill over into other aspects of life. But that sure predates New Age mind-body-spirit promises.
As for meditation, to many folks this is the ultimate in mind-body-spirit wonderfulness. In case any of you Blog-Buddies haven’t seen two research articles I’ve published on meditation today — and why this former TM teacher now decidedly doesn’t recommend meditation any longer:

* Mindfulness Meditation If You Hate Yourself.
At church there was laying on of hands, supposed to cure anything if you only had faith.
This was supposed to bring healing courtesy of the Holy Spirit or, sometimes, Jesus.
Even when I was very religious, I didn’t really notice results from that.
Sadly, JAMES, just because people believed that their healing came courtesy of the Holy Spirit or, sometimes, Jesus?
I’ve done aura research about this for some clients, using Vibrational Re-Positioning®. Short answer is no. However well-meaning, these believers didn’t have skills that made their wishes about this come true.

And JAMES, thank you so much for these comments. You have, I suspect, spoken for many. We’ve had HUMAN problems and been promised, Age of Faith-style, if we only believed enough, the faith (and energy) healing would solve those HUMAN problems. Maybe not so much.

I fully agree that there are significant issues with the over-reach that is characteristic of so many energy medicine systems.
Like you, I don’t hold with the extremely common conceit that physically-energy-focused systems will also fix emotional and spiritual problems. To my dismay, it’s an increasingly commonly held conceit even in my field of acupuncture.
I also totally agree that most current physical-energy-oriented systems have an incredibly serious problem with sourcing.
I have never encountered serious conceptual coherence (and straight talk) on sourcing anywhere except here.
On another note, personally, I think there’s a strong case to be made that health problems are human problems. But, you’re probably not surprised to read that from me :-)
Are physical health problems unique to humans? In the main, no. But, does something needs to be unique to humans, in order to also be a human attribute?

In my experience, THEODORE and other Blog-Buddies, that’s when we can attain big results; results significant enough to really matter for human beings. Otherwise, our lives are so demanding and complex, will folks really notice results?
Yet I’ve seen-and-heard this from clients — all we Energy Spirituality experts have — when clients find results, significant results for personal growth and spiritual awakening.
I agree that it’s nearly impossible to be an effective Energy Healer nowadays without having good Energetic Literacy skills.
Yet so many who claim to be spiritual teachers refuse to learn these relatively simple skills for reading Auras.
Is it stubbornness?
Hubris?
A preference for embracing vague proclamations about energy as opposed to detail information about someone’s Aura?

I am so glad you’ve written this fabulous article, Rose.
I did a lot of healing during those New Age Years. Sometimes I gave it and sometimes I received it, doing kinds of healing that are far too numerous to mention.
As I recall, people would talk about the healing as coming from Spirit. Whatever that was supposed to mean. I always assumed it meant God, but none of my teachers or healers ever came out and said so.
It seemed to me like they were bending over backwards to be politically correct, which is kind of screwy now that I think about it.
If it matters, I noticed a sickly sweet, fakey smile on the lips of teachers and healers who talked about how their healing came from Spirit.
To be fair, they mostly talked about energy. Energy did this. Energy meant that. Good energy, bad energy.
I felt a little squirmy when seeing these energy healers talk about Spirit and energy. Seemingly, they were with the in-crowd who understood it all perfectly. Seemed to me, I wasn’t connected enough, like there was something lacking in me that I didn’t get all gooey and trusting like they did.
As a point of information, I do very well using your Spiritually Sparkling techniques where I cocreate with God.
And I notice results every time. So if you’re reading this and you’ve also felt like a spiritual nothing, or not quite with it, you really might want to read Rose’s book on healing or have a session with her. Refreshing change, I’d say!

Pranic Healing appealed to me then, probably because it seemed to be for intelligent people. Although maybe not as intelligent as people at this blog community.
Specific memories were a little hazy but as I recall the power of Pranic Healing involved my life force.
For years I wasn’t really receiving much benefit to my health, or the rest of my mind-body-spirit. At the time that seemed like a not great reflection on me, or else something wrong with my own version of life force.
Talk about having a bad sense of self over one’s energies! It never occurred to me, at the time at least, that maybe the healing method was the problem and not me.
The last part I just wrote here? Just realized that now, and your post here sure helped me figure that out, Rose.
By now I’m so over pranic healing.
NICK CASEY, you’ve probably spoken for many who developed an infatuation with New Age energy healing at some point.
Certainly this was the case with my love of Transcendental Meditation (although certain meant-to-be factors were also involved, as you know — or will discover — from reading my memoir of spiritual awakening).
Not all loves last for a lifetime. Your human self, everyone’s human self, is bigger than any love.
Your soul expression endures for the entire incarnation, right?
So many skills I collected, during the time you call the “New Age Years”! I won’t waste your time with a full list, it’s so long.
Back then, without knowing it, I was in Spiritual Addiction. All I knew was that I felt like I was becoming more “spiritual.” It seemed like “being a healer” was my sacred purpose.
As for my day job(s), one after another, they were too “unspiritual.” Looking back I was lucky that nobody ever fired me.
My dream was to pile one new technique onto another, until I felt “ready.”
Then I aimed to take a leap of faith, which somehow I got the idea I was supposed to do. Something around finding my passion and then the money would follow.
Very lucky for me I managed to book a first session with you, Rose. You found the Spiritual Addiction and explained to me how to get over it. Sure, I grumbled to myself a little but I could feel the truth in what you said, so I followed through.
Month after month, I found interest in my life. The various “healing arts” dropped away. Only later did I notice that happening.

In my view, YVONNE, that off-balance consciousness lifestyle can really lead to craving more-more-more. Such as DO more healing. Or LEARN more kinds of healing.
Folks think it’s about their talent or their spiritual calling. More often, that craving just might be the addiction talking.
If we think about it, Blog-Buddies, practices done largely BY and also FOR people with Spiritual Addiction…
Those practices are supposed to solve all our problems, but if we’re aiming to solve real-life HUMAN problems, why would that work?
Eventually many people have done their own cost-benefit analysis and stopped believing in the mind-body-spirit promises.
People you meet now, with normal-and-productive HUMAN-type jobs, might once have dreamed of throwing “establishment, materialistic, empty” lifestyles away, so they could go full-time as Reiki healers.
More power to them, I think:
* First for following the best dream they could find. So beautiful and brave!
* And second, for overcoming Spiritual Addiction and then finding ways to evolve within HUMAN-type reality.
Energy based therapy! That is what called out to me.
Back then, during what you call the New Age Years, Tai Chi became my “spiritual path.” I felt so excited to pursue this because since childhood I had dreamed of becoming a therapist.
Tai Chi had the allure of the wisdom of the East. Besides, my teachers seemed so mellow as if they were in Enlightenment or close to it.
NAOMI, many people have longed to become healers and therapists. Only without gaining professional credentials in medicine or psychology…. In that way, hasn’t belief in mind-body-spirit seemed to offer a shortcut?
Professional-level skills in psychotherapy or in a medical field, they don’t always work perfectly. However, they can work beautifully sometimes. Sometimes.
As for parlaying one’s magnificent energy sensitivity into a career as a healer, such as becoming a Tai Chi teacher? In the Age of Awakening, that doesn’t work so great.
Just consider the consciousness lifestyles of today’s mellow Tai Chi instructors, as I’ve researched them at the link just supplied. Not so gorgeous, aura-wise.
