Deeper Perception Made Practical

Heyoka Empath? Why I’m Skeptical

Heyoka Empath. Are you tempted to believe in this?

Heyoka Empath. Are you tempted to believe in this?

Heyoka Empath, have you heard of the new term that some people are writing about?

Hey, I’ll write about it too. Only I’ll bring skills!

What kind of skills? Empath Empowerment® Coaching skills, of course.

And also Aura Reading skills. Since I’m aiming to discern what is real about this Heyoka concept. Versus… whatever else.

Prospective Client Joe Introduced Me to the Idea of Heyoka Empath

In an email Joe wrote that recently he came across new information. Consequently he now believes that he may be… a Heyoka. Also known as a “sacred clown.”

Thus, I was introduced. Right from the outset, I found this notion offensive.

Ever hear the saying, “God don’t make no junk?”

I believe that. You too?

Therefore, I sure don’t believe that it’s anyone’s lot in life. Being a “sacred clown.” Do you? How would you like to be told that’s what you are, no matter what?

Wrong in so many ways, doing this to any human being!

Since, if you’re human, we’ve got free will. None of us must play any one thing for a lifetime. You know, like “a narcissist.” Reviled by all.

But I’m willing to learn if there’s something to it. So let’s explore this idea. Could there be something to it?

A Strange Sameness to Online Articles about the Heyoka Empath

Will you find the same thing if you sample articles on this Heyoka topic? Entire sentences copied word for word. But from which originator?

Seriously wondering! Do people who write about Heyoka Empaths copy each other? (Often word for word.)

Strangely, yes. Yet evidently they never give credit to their original source. Maybe not a good look, ethically.

May I offer my sympathy toward the person whose work others are imitating! Trustworthy helpers of humanity… don’t plagiarize.

On the other hand, if you’re willing to not take something seriously? All these multiple words and pictures can make one wonder? Is this trickster idea about empaths… The work of an intentional trickster?

Regarding good looks, I’ll acknowledge this. Many of these websites feature traditional art. Sporting a Native American look. I wonder, how many of these writers actually have the standing to write as Native Americans? Hard to say.

After some frustrating research time, I settled on one website to represent the field. Calleen Wilder is the only person who actually showed her face. (And thus, aura.)

She’s a psychic. Proclaiming the tagline, “Walking Between the Realms.” And I’ve researched her aura a bit. Unlike most psychics today, she’s doing remarkably well. Altogether I find her sweet. (And that’s something that I do take seriously. Hooray!)

However, does liking Calleen mean that I agree with her ideas about empaths. No no!

Practical Note: See Comments #91 – 103, below. Since these comments go into very specific reasons why I consider it implausible  that Wilder has the standing to give reliable info to fellow human beings about “Heyokas.”

Making the Case for Being a Heyoka Empath

Here I’ll summarize five main ideas from Calleen Wilder’s introduction to this topic:

  1. A large proportion of humanity is able to empathize (in one form or the other) with others. However, the most valued type of empathic archetypes is known as ”Heyoka.” But, only few can be considered Heyoka empaths.
  2. ”Heyoka” is a Native American term that means a ”fool” or a ”sacred clown.”
  3. The term is also used to refer to people who are emotional mirrors to the ones around them.
  4. In Lakota people, a Heyoka uses the wind as sticks to beat the drum of thunder.
  5. In English, it would be more appropriate to describe a Heyoka as an individual who acts in a way that is the opposite of normal and sees the world differently.

Let’s consider these points one by one.

Heyoka Empath Idea #1. Leaping

Seems to me, any empath coach has an obligation to bring clarity. In contrast to bringing trickster-ish confusion.

What else? An empath teacher is allowed to have a sense of humor. (Yeah, in the background, personally, I do laugh a lot every day. And occasionally you’ll find traces of humor in my blog posts. Although it’s not usually front and center.)

Extra important, surely the best empath coach would also bring help.

With all respect, I’m not finding any of that from Ms. Wilder. She leaps from the verb empathize to the term empathic archetypes. Immediately after, springing over to the word empath.

All three words mean very different things. So if you’re seeking her definition of what an empath is? No such luck.

Just in case you’re curious… Here’s how Empath Coach Rose Rosetree defines “empath.”

An empath is born with at least lifelong gift: A gift for directly experiencing (in consciousness) what it is like to be another person.

To me, it would be wrong to go into detail without telling people what they can gain by learning my system. By contrast, Calleen Wilder doesn’t do this. Rather, she offers links, toward the end of her post. Articles about psychic development. As if empaths were psychics!

I don’t think so. Here’s why.

Heyoka Empath Idea #2. Empath as Fool

Assigning anybody a role in life? Sounds to me like spending to much time reading Tarot cards… And taking the pictures literally.

Seems to me, calling somebody a “trickster” or “sacred fool”? That’s more what folks did, deep in the Age of Faith. While stuck for life in some little village. Given status early in life. Sadly, living with little chance to change for the rest of their lives. Change either socially or personally or spiritually.

Unlike now, in the Age of Awakening! When we can evolve as rapidly as we wish. Many of you Blog-Buddies are making great strides in personal growth. Also, in spiritual awakening.

Mostly, I don’t believe in fools. But if I did, who would come close? Somebody who writes that an entire group of people are destined to live as fools.

More and more, I’m beginning to think of “Heyoka Empath” as fictional. Not anything humanly real whatsoever! Quite possibly, somebody’s idea of a joke!

Heyoka Empaths Idea #3. Emotional Mirrors

Until I read Calleen Wilder’s thoughts on this topic, wow! I thought the popular “emotional mirror” idea came from the New Age years. (You know, 1980 – 12/21/12. Right before the Shift into the Age of Awakening.)

Apparently not. Apparently some of the Lakota people have found help in this awful idea. Where presumably, “Everyone is your mirror.”

By all means, Blog-Buddies. Please COMMENT below with any experience you’ve had trying to grow spiritually or emotionally through this idea. Did you ever try over-interpreting your life all day long? Like, seeing every random person as your “meaningful mirror”?

If so, please share if you’re still doing that now. Or if not, why not?

Meanwhile, let’s be clear on one thing. Many people do believe “Everyone you meet is your mirror.”  Just now, 371 MILLION hits on google.

But popularity in Collective Consciousness doesn’t meant the same thing as being true, does it?

About this mirror notion, that’s a belief. Not a type of person.

For instance, you might believe in Bright Magenta Sacred Flaming Maracas that Walk on Two Legs.

Well, believe in that all you like. But, please, don’t also believe that it’s real. A concept is not something that happens in real life. (Outside one’s head, anyway.)

Heyoka Empaths Idea #4. Whacking Drums Made of Thunder

So this is a Heyoka’s job? “a Heyoka uses the wind as sticks to beat the drum of thunder.”

Really?

By all means, COMMENT below and show me that literal drum. Then maybe I’ll comment back.

Meanwhile, I’ll add something here for perspective. I believe in giving meaningful definitions for different empath gifts. Not fantasy ideas. Nor outdated beliefs from thousands of years ago. True ideas, aiming to help practical people.

For instance, I’ve published a short article that summarizes 15 different empath gifts.

That’s an introduction to learning the system of Empath Empowerment®. For example, learn more from this easy read. Taking minutes a day for a month. And by the end, you’re a skilled empath.

Look, I don’t know everything about anything. But I do know some things about coaching empaths. If you research my work, you’ll find I published the first book for empaths in English. In 2001. By now, many consider me to be America’s most experienced coach.

Heyoka Empaths Idea #5. Not Normal

Vaguest of all comes this notion. How any of these Heyoka empaths is, supposedly, “an individual who acts in a way that is the opposite of normal and sees the world differently.”

Let’s face it. Wouldn’t that include any modern human teenager? Also most of us adults.

What would be an exception? If you lived many thousands of years ago. Living as part of an indigenous tribe. Living in one of those highly conformist societies where everybody had to conform. Either that or they were considered outcasts.

Thank God we don’t have to live that way now. Thank your most sacred name for God, whatever it is!

In Conclusion

I don’t believe that, for people living on earth now, there is any such thing. Any such thing, whatsoever, as a Heyoka Empath.

So if you know people who are troubled. Maybe could use a few sessions of Energy Spirituality ENERGY HEALING. Or might be in need of help from a qualified mental health practitioner.

Honestly, what would you do? What if people came to you and blamed their problems — or superiority — on being born a “sacred clown”!

Let them know they deserve better, right? That’s all I’ve tried to do here.

Definitely Read Comments #161 – 167

Over a year after publishing this post originally, new comments greeted me on April 21, 2021. Comments from a man with a lot of wisdom to share about being a Heyoka Empath.

Thank you T! You’ve included resources for knowledge and also helped us to understand better the difference between truth versus falsehoods, confusions, even cultural appropriation.

Skip ahead, Blog-Buddies. For me, this is a moment of relief at my educational blog.

    T says:

In order to survive these past centuries, we Lakota have had to be tough and resilient people.

Many of us today follow in the bloody footprints left by our ancestors.

  2. 202
    T says:

Stubbornly, in the spirit of the Heyoka, our ancestors refused to give up during the Trail of Tears, after the Sand Creek Massacre, and in spite of Wounded Knee, our people still live.

Let us call back that “Heyoka rebel spirit” which is a part of our Red Identity and our Red Indigenous Pride so that we do not become a caricature of the true Lakota spirit.

  3. 203
    T says:

The Heyoka is much misunderstood even by our own Lakota today.

By being around two Lakota Heyoka, my Grandfather, Chief Lame Deer, Tahca Uste, and my son, I have learned several things.

  4. 204
    T says:

The Heyoka is a brotherhood of those in the present as well as those Heyoka who have gone on.

A Heyoka is the human hand as well as the spiritual warrior of the Wakinyan, the Thunder Beings. Though favored and protected by Wakan Tanka, with great power but an even greater responsibility, the Heyoka’s life is never his own.

  5. 205
    T says:

Some of the Heyoka such as Chief Frank Fools Crow, were able to lead exemplary lives.

He was fortunate to have been raised from early childhood in a family which was steeped in Lakota tradition, culture and knowledge about spirituality.

  6. 206
    T says:

By his own account, Chief Frank Fools Crow had the support, understanding and assistance from his family and the spiritual community who understood his calling.

However other Heyoka have not been as fortunate to have this support system.

  7. 207
    T says:

Not all Heyoka fully understood this calling from which they could not run.

As a result, some were humbled and suffered personal tragedy until they agreed to do what was asked of them.

  8. 208
    T says:

Joseph Eagle Elk, a great Heyoka, who is no longer with us today, gave a very poignant account of his own personal struggle in his autobiography, The Price of a Gift.

  9. 209
    T says:

Ultimately, whether the Heyoka lives an exemplary life or not, there is no denying that all Heyoka are mysteriously and spiritually gifted by Wakan Tanka and the Wakinyan (Thunder Beings) and remain a Heyoka even beyond death.

  10. 210
    T says:

The words of the Heyoka are like a lightning bolt which can pierce the heart, for the Heyoka’s words can have a “sharp edge.”

However, if one looks beyond the initial sting, one may realize that the words which make a person the angriest, usually have truth to them.

  11. 211
    T says:

    Sometimes, “the truth hurts.”

But one never really knows the true intention of the Heyoka if we listen to the literal meaning of the words.

  12. 212
    T says:

Something which is said today by a Heyoka may actually pertain to an event yet to come in the future.

Or a Heyoka may not reveal all he knows for his existence is in faith. If a person is told everything, this person may give up.

  13. 213
    T says:

A Heyoka has a higher calling and must be strong enough to go against human instinct in order to hold out hope for the people to keep them going during times of difficulty.

  14. 214
    T says:

One of the greatest misconceptions is that one “chooses” to be a Heyoka. This is not true.

Just as a buffalo cannot “choose” to become a goat, and vice versa, neither can an ordinary person wake up one day and “choose” to become a Heyoka.

  15. 215
    T says:

One cannot take classes to learn to become a Heyoka or “train” to become a Heyoka.

There is no way to become “certified” or “apprentice” to become a Heyoka.

  16. 216
    T says:

One cannot go up on the hill on a vision quest and dream it up and one certainly cannot make it up.

It is Wakan Tanka, the Great Mystery, who chooses the Heyoka before he or she is ever born.

Who in their right mind would willingly choose such a life of hardship and sacrifice?

  17. 217
    T says:

In today’s plastic world, there are many fakes who are driven by greed or desire to become notorious. But there are ways to tell the real Heyoka from a fake.

Can this person handle fire or pick up hot stones with his bare hands without being burned? Can he prophesy?

  18. 218
    T says:

There are spiritual consequences for those who lie about such things. For the Thunder Beings fiercely protect their own and their helpers.

Long ago, each tribe had their own Heyoka or sacred clowns who were their protectors and defenders. Now, just as the eagle and the buffalo are disappearing, so are the Heyoka.

  19. 219
    T says:

“One Heyoka always knows another Heyoka when he meets one,” according to Richard Erdoes, co-author of the book on Grandpa John’s life, Lame Deer: Seeker of Visions, while reminiscing about a time when two Lakota Heyoka, Grandpa John Fire and Henry Crow Dog, who were friends, were both guests at Erdoes’ New York apartment at the same time during a civil rights march in the late 1960s.

  20. 220
    T says:

According to Erdoes, these two Heyoka enjoyed each other’s company but due to the Heyoka nature to be “contrary,” they enjoyed verbal jousting and argued through the night into the early morning hours.

According to Grandpa John and my son, the Heyoka power tends to stay within the bloodline of a particular family although it might skip a generation or two, the power is always there.

  21. 221
    T says:

Notably, the Eagle Elk family was one such family.

Another one of our most noted Heyoka was Tasunka Witko, Chief Crazy Horse, whose life was a continual battle to save his people, for a warrior’s work never ends, especially not the “half-man, half-spirit” warrior that he was.

  22. 222
    T says:

Chief Crazy Horse’s heart was a stronghold for his Red People, big enough to include other tribes beyond his own tribal affiliation.

Today, at Pine Ridge, Northern Cheyenne Chief Dull Knife’s descendants, who were protected by this great man, still live among our people.

  23. 223
    T says:

Though short in stature, Chief Crazy Horse, the Heyoka, was a man taller than his shadow.

I dedicate this story to our beloved Lakota Heyoka, past and present, including my son Wiconi who have had the courage to keep the “rebel” Heyoka spirit alive, “hecel Oyate kin nipi kte” so that our people should live.

T, thank you so much for these excellent points.

Your path is not my path, but I respect you and what you’ve written here; especially I thrill to the solemnity of purpose and integrity of action which you’ve described here.

  33. 233

Blog-Buddies, it seems to me that there are different categories for teachings about wisdom, spirituality, and/or the Divine.

Category 1* Some teachings are authentic and they DO NOT resonate with me as my path, but DO resonate with me as beautiful. (Such as what you’ve written here.)

  34. 234

Category 2* Other teachings are authentic and they DO resonate with me as my path, including everything that I publish under my own name here at my blog and website.

Although I publish them, all these writings and teachings are cocreated with the Divine, as expressions of Energy Spirituality.

  35. 235

(Sometimes I do write personal things, like Rose Rosetree’s reaction to the recent Derek Chauvin guilty verdict; but I aim to be consistent about labeling which of these writings are simply personal.)

  36. 236

Category 3* In addition, some teachings or writings put on the costume of great dignity and/or sacredness, yet to me they are hollow.

As you may have figured out by now, Blog-Buddies, into this category falls everything I’ve read about Heyoka Empaths… until T volunteered to share here some teachings that are altogether different. More like that Category 1.

  37. 237

Again, T, thank you for sharing. Likewise my thanks go back to all of the Heyoka teachers you’ve noted here.

    Amy says:

I can see why people are talking about cultural appropriation, but honestly, there has been no other source for Heyokas other than this Native American explanation. I learned I was one through a YouTube video. My entire life I have been deeply empathic and had very strong intuition, but I have had difficulty socially and am very blunt. When I saw the description of a Heyoka, everything clicked for me. That being said, there are a lot of people on FB and elsewhere who over-mystify this concept and make us look bad. I joined a couple groups and some of the people there are deeply troubled or just plain narcissists. A true Heyoka speaks the truth when it’s uncomfortable and therefore often makes others uncomfortable. Heyokas are also emotional healers and are usually trying to ‘fix’ people who are deeply struggling. We are not overly social and usually have INFJ personalities. Also, true Heyokas probably aren’t going to brag about being so, as it’s not an easy road and we are deeply aware that others probably won’t validate this concept. No offense, but if you’re not Heyoka, you might be skeptical and not understand. My therapist hasn’t even heard of it. I don’t advertise the fact and when I meet other true Heyokas in a FB group, I know it. I have no need to be mocked or be further misunderstood. We don’t do ‘surface’ on any level. A guy I knew said I reminded him of a Kamikaze, and I knew exactly what he meant and laughed. I am not into small talk or b.s. I don’t have a lot of friends, but the ones I do have, I completely trust and would give everything for.

    Dan L Jacobson says:

I am not sure really where to even start here lol . So much right and so much wrong. I have never spoke on video or much anywhere really about these subjects but I will have to make a video on this article since there is way to much to go over and too much is lost in text. That is how articles like this end up being written. People go from one text to the next instead of actually interviewing people and really understanding the facts. All this is is the rehashing of past texts with a very off perspective just because this person can not grasp what it is. Also if this person has been any type of empath coach to anyone it is a shame because they have given a ton of misinformation for sure. My name is Dan Jacobson. If you would like to be educated on the subject please do email me. If you would like to be part of or run the interview on video of these points you have attempted to make I would Love that and in long run you will love it too! danj312@gmail.com If this is really something you want the truth on and want to stop giving terrible advice to empaths because you actually care and want to do the job properly. I will be more than happy to help and you will be grateful and do amazing things for real from that point on or you will find a new hobby. Peace and Love!

  40. 240

Dan L Jacobson, I will assume that you mean well as an expert on “the subject,” a subject you never mention once.

It is a little ironic that you, as a complete newbie to my blog, would criticize me for “giving terrible advice to empaths.” Clearly you haven’t yet visited my new website dedicated to helping empaths.

  41. 241

Many thousands of people would be quite offended at that, since I pioneered contemporary empath coaching. Empath Empowerment® works.

That part we have to do for ourselves. ;-)

    Sir Hafez says:

    *Pimpish grin*

Never in My upbringing would I have thought it possible something so rare as a actual undiscovered, undeserving, unaware being could find themselves in a state of “Whodathunkit”

I get everything everyone has stated by their own perception or observation of a actual Heyoka existing outside of tribe mentioned as the sole possession of what is possible as such.

    So picture if you will…

Someone like Myself stepping out of the shadows…
Yes Virginia, their just may be a rare few.
    Maybe Me.

    Who can admit.
Now I know what exactly is the difference between what so many claim to be and what actually has to be the most uncomfortable reality to be…

Ain’t no Heyoka “professor x” out there looking to find what has to be a lost possibility to actually be. And if so?
Know how to help them evolve into who they can be positively.

    And then there is Me.
I wouldn’t wish this mirror instinct on anybody.
There is no off switch and no way to figure the possibilities that whoever finds you may face their demons or insecurities. Not intentionally butt… not knowing what to do to shake them out of it or prevent exposure to that kind of experience is not comforting.
That instinct of being a fool can be defined as a glutton for punishment when no good deed goes unpunished.

    Was Jesus a Heyoka?

    Sucks to be one.
    Just ask one.

Vaguest of all comes this notion. How any of these Heyoka empaths is, supposedly, “an individual who acts in a way that is the opposite of normal and sees the world differently.”

  45. 245

From my perspective, as the Enlightenment Coach who runs this particular blog, it’s a shame that the eloquent SIR HAFEZ has never studied with a teacher who could help him to grow beyond his pain.

For those who are interested, the system of Empath Empowerment® can do that.

Great article , heard “Heyoka empath” term for the first time today, but the “most powerfull empath” (lol) epithet was a huge red flag that it is a trap to lure spiritual narcs to buy something/one . google’d “heyoka empath fake” and here i am with a substantive opinion i was looking for (much appreciated) T. comments and links was cherry on top of my content – cuz the topic is totally unkown to me and very interesting . never would dare to call myself “Heyoka” as myself and my ancestors lived in eastern-europe , yet i fell such a connection with “what it is” (many many thanks to T. for explanation and examples) with all the pain of burden with the joy and responsibility of having a chance to see and do a greater good (not that im special or chosen in any way). probably won’t be back here as i prefere to learn (and burn) on my own, but Rose – again , thank you for your work and guidance ; i hope You will bring peace to as many ppl you are able to .

    Tony Barnett says:

My name is Tony Barnett, I did not choose this, it’s hard, it’s isolating and it’s relentless. Heyoka something I am, it’s a being, an energy, I thought it was an archangel at first, that comes down like fire from a cloud that seems like takes up everything there is. I interpreted it as another dimension.

[Blog-Buddies, then follows a vivid and confusing description of Tony’s victimhood as a so-called “Heyoka Empath.”]

  49. 249

TONY BARNETT, I wish you well.

If you’re like others who come to my personal blog for the first time just to share your story, at great length, divulging so much personal detail that it can be quite embarrassing for total strangers to read….

  50. 250

Then I doubt that you’ll return here, other than to check that your full tale of victimization has been published for all the internet to see.

But in case you are reading, or would even care to respond…

  51. 251

If you have read the main article here at all, TONY, you know that YES, I am a professional Empath Coach — and the founder of Empath Empowerment®.

But NO, in my professional opinion, there is no such thing as a Heyoka Empath. How can that be, when you believe in it so fervently?

  52. 252

How can that be, when you believe so fervently in this — and others join you as fellow believers?

Seems to me, the answer hinges on the concept of “truth value.”

  53. 253

Although many different points of view can be true, not all points of view are equally true.

To learn more on this topic, I’ve provided a link in Comment #252. For a more advanced version of all this, you might wish to watch my YouTube video on “Being Spiritual. BIG Truth or SMALL Truth?” It might help you.

  54. 254

Yet even more important for you at this time, TONY, might be to seek help from a psychiatrist — such as one you might find by going to your local hospital’s emergency room.

  55. 255

I felt very sad to look at what you wrote originally, although I did not read the attempted blog comment in its entirety.

Not just because it was so long but mostly due to incoherent language which suggested to this reader that you might not be doing well, for now, at staying in touch with reality.

  56. 256

Like it or not, there are consequences when a person wholeheartedly believes in ideas, or practices, that have very low truth value.

As illustrated in considerable detail if you read the main article, and comments, at the link provided next about what I call “5th Dimension Nonsense….”

  57. 257
    Tony Barnett says:

I’m not embarrassed. I’ll admit to being more grounded in reality a couple of days later and coming back to this page to try and delete what I wrote, out of respect to the people who have actual knowledge of their ancestral beliefs, but I’m not embarrassed. What if someone knew what I was talking about? I’m not bothered by scrutiny over doing something that I thought was right at the time. I respect your fact based critique and your cynical viewpoint of the spectrum on which personal “truths” lie, and your ability to shift focus back to reality, THE truth, nothing left to question in the only real answer.

  58. 258

Ironically, TONY BARNETT, you’re not embarrassed to come back to my personal blog, insult me, and once again not consider that I just might know what I’m talking about.

It’s fascinating how people who find — and then hate on — this blogpost like to send me poetic or spiritual-sounding entreaties like this one.

Aimed perhaps to help them believe that what they’ve been told about “Heyoka empath” is true. Or to win converts.

  61. 261

Learning about the concept of truth value could be helpful to them.

Because the problem with today’s Heyoka teachings is not that they lack anything a person could find flattering and true, but because the degree of truth value is so low.

  62. 262

Many who’ve been told they’re Heyoka empaths may not have any empath talents at all. Or they may be unskilled empaths… who will remain unskilled as long as they pursue Heyoka teachings.

You’all are always invited to book a personal session of empath coaching with me. Find out how much you’ve been helped by taking this spiritual side trip.

Hi, im here in 2024 just looking for answers of a lifelong journey. Yes, I agree with you that people shouldn’t use an excuse for their behavior, because let’s face it that is what adulting is, taking up responsibility for your own actions. I can admit that everything I’ve read and studied show how and why things have happened in my life, including the bolts of lighting I see/have seen. Moreover, most people, including myself, are at the bare minimum looking for their place in this life. I can contest that it is unnerving sitting in a women’s Bible study and all of a sudden unsure why I’m laughing. One woman finally had the courage to ask why I was laughing in such turmoil over her life. My immediate response was because I could see what the enemy was up to. I had to train myself to know that and everything I’ve been through. So it’s not nice to discredit everything but also alittle understanding goes along way. Thanks for writing this article. Peace.

  64. 264

CHARISSA, you’ve said your piece. May that help you.

In your words, the line that most jumped out at me was, “My immediate response was because I could see what the enemy was up to.”

  65. 265

Does anything you wrote seem relevant to this Empath Coach, regarding what it means to be an empath or how to use your full potential as an empath?

    Not really.

    Julia says:

You have a strange approach to Empath “coaching”. …. Way too harsh… you need to go inside your own programming. Strange approach indeed. Stop feeding the trolls! Sheesh!

  67. 267

Although this first comment from you at my blog has broken our civility policy, I thought this might serve as a teachable moment to some readers. Ao I have chosen to pluck it from my Spam Filter and make it live.

What have you aimed to publish… at the personal blog of America’s most experienced empath coach?

  68. 268

    1. You criticized my “approach.” Probably knowing very little about my body of work as the founder of Empath Empowerment®.

Did you have the standing to do that anywhere, let alone at my personal blog?

  69. 269

    2. You characterized my professional opinion and discernment as an Empath Coach as “Way too harsh.”

Again, where is your standing to evaluate “harshness”?

  70. 270

    3. You supplied advice about what I “should” do.

Giving unsolicited advice to a stranger does not make you look good, JULIA.

  71. 271

    4. You referred to your personal belief system to explain about why I wrote the main article here as I did.

Just because you believe in “programming” as a metaphor or explanation to trash the work of somebody you don’t know? Why would this be meaningful or helpful? Or appropriate? Oops, it isn’t.

  72. 272

I wonder, JULIA, if you even read the initial article in its entirety. There I went into detail about why I reached the conclusion I did.

In my experience, it’s a mistake to interpret or “explain” why somebody reached a conclusion… in terms of your theory… when most likely you didn’t read what I actually had to say.

  73. 273

Again, doing this kind of thing doesn’t make you look wise. Merely rude.

  74. 274

    5. Is Empath Empowerment® a “strange approach”?

To you, perhaps. But not to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, which awarded me legal standing for this intellectual property. Nor for many, many readers of my books for empaths — both in English and in many translated, authorized editions worldwide.

  75. 275

    6. Ironically, you proceeded to give this blogger even more unsolicited advice: “Stop feeding the trolls!”

In your fury, perhaps it never occurred to you that your comment here is like a textbook example of you, JULIA, trolling me.

  76. 276

    7. Perhaps you considered your concluding salvo — “Sheesh!” To be a nice touch.

    Eloquent this was not.

  77. 277

Next time you disagree with a total stranger online, here’s a tip. You could write, “I disagree with your point of view.”

This is just a suggestion for you. Regardless of how you respond, I am banning you from future commenting at my blog.

    Heather says:

    Hi Rose,
I found your blog to be logical, well layed out and nothing but honest in not only your opinion on Heyoka validity but WHY you’ve come to those conclusions. And the comments are a little unhinged at times and I dig your no nonsense, zero BS responses lol
I’m commenting because my life experience is in direct contrast to the very logical conclusion you’ve expressed. I have no Native background and don’t label myself “Heyoka” as I personally believe that particular word is intrinsic to Indigenous culture and spiritual practices of which I have no right to apply to myself. I think it would be very interesting to discuss with you but seeing as this isn’t the right forum to air out different personal experiences, is there a way to discuss further? And if so is that something you would be comfortable doing? I’m just a random person on your comment blog so I don’t have any expectations but your perspective and information are something I’d like to hear more of and have the opportunity to tell you mine if you’d like.
Thanks for taking the time to read and reply to previous comments and hopefully mine 😊
    Respectfully,
    H.

  79. 279

    Respectful? Possibly.

Are you going to change my conclusion, based on a kind of aura-level research that you are unable to either DO or VALUE? Not really.

  80. 280

Note: If you aim to write a respectful comment at somebody’s personal blog, you might wish to avoid calling her “unhinged” in your second sentence.

Look, frustrated people who use the fanciful term “Heyoka Empath,” to find meaning in your lives: You don’t need my permission to keep on doing that.
