Psychic Doesn’t Mean Spiritual #1. A Puzzle
Definitely let’s begin with that story. (Described as best I remember. And maintaining confidentiality.)
Sam came to me for his first session of Energy Spirituality™ ENERGY HEALING.
Whatever that Healing Centerpiece happened to be, he did great. Soon after, Sam came for a follow-up session, and then another. Only then did he tell me about a little problem:
Besides doing sessions with you, Rose, I see a psychic, Gladys. Each week we have a standing appointment.
Somehow we’ve started to have a problem. After my Energy Spirituality sessions she can’t read my aura. As a result, she couldn’t really answer my questions. Or predict my future.
First time, maybe it was just a fluke. But then it happened after my last session, too.
Both times, the problem only lasted a short time. Because a week later, we went back to having sessions as usual. Can you explain what has been happening?

Psychic Doesn’t Mean Spiritual #2. SOLVING that Puzzle
As the founder of Energy Spirituality, I don’t have all the answers. Nor do I know everything.
By now I’d have solved that puzzle by doing Consciousness Positioning® Consults. However, I hadn’t yet developed that skill. So all I could do was to seek to understand what the heck was happening.
Eventually I had a big Aha!. When aiming to explain all this in a blogpost, I needed something more concrete for explaining. Finally I’ve arrived at a certain analogy. It comes in two parts. Soon we’ll get there. But next, let’s get this out of the way.
Psychic Doesn’t Mean Spiritual #3. What’s Not Puzzling
Not Really Puzzling, Not at All
In order to understand psychic work — aka intuitive work — mainstream culture gives us a very easy way of understanding things.
Easy but not adequate for those of us living now. But hey, we’ll get there.
Anyway, haven’t you encountered this kind of idea?
Human beings live on This Side of Life.
But there’s also life on The Other Side.
God’s there. But how many of us are special enough to talk to God?
Psychics have The Gift for telling us about The Other Side. They’re just as good as God, maybe better. Because they work with angels, “God’s messengers.” As a result psychics can tell us everything we need to know about the other side.
According to this kind of idea, so popular in mainstream culture:
Psychics and angels give us important spiritual information. Anything from The Other Side, whether God or whatever? It’s all the same.
Important to know: That’s not really true. Let me explain further.
Psychic Doesn’t Mean Spiritual #4. How Psychic Readings Work
Despite various differences, all of these professionals work in a similar manner:
- Psychics
- Intuitives
- Clairvoyants
- Shamans
- Mediums
- Channelers
- New Age Energy Healers
BTW if you want me to expand upon the quick summary here, COMMENT below. Ask about any one of these seven psychic-type specialties. (Including that seventh one, which might be news to many of today’s Reiki healers, crystal healers, etc.)
Anyhow, all of them work with at least one discarnate spirit of some kind. Without exception, these are all astral beings. Just as human beings live at Human Vibrational Frequencies, astral beings live at Astral Vibrational Frequencies.

Ladders
Probably you know this. All human beings are not alike, not when it comes to spiritual evolution. For instance, as an Enlightenment teacher, I’ve blogged about “Baby Souls.”
(Maybe worth reading, or rereading to help you to best understand this LADDER idea.)
Similarly, all discarnate beings are not alike. Hardly.
By way of analogy, picture a ladder. Maybe like the photo supplied at the top of this post. Only the ladder I’m asking you to imagine now? It contains 1,000 different rungs, each one numbered.
Like that…. When a psychic works with a spirit, it will exist — and perceive — at one particular rung.
- Maybe Ladder Rung #5
- Or Ladder Rung #50
- Even Ladder Rung #500.
Thus, the psychic is gaining info from The Other Side. Info that has a certain allure due to astral flash.
Despite the allure, astral is still astral.
Therefore, the nature of that spirit-given info will vary. Always depending on where that particular spirit exists. (As it were, at which rung of the consciousness ladder.)
Psychic Doesn’t Mean Spiritual #5. When You Cocreate with the Divine
Alternatively, what if you’re doing Energy Spirituality AURA READING? Or Energy Spirituality ENERGY HEALING?
Alternatively you’re using a different skill set that also requires that you cocreate with God.
In that case, you’re using a specific skill set. Without exception, that skill set must be effective for cocreation with the Divine. (More than just wishing, hoping, thinking, or praying that this is so. ;-) )
Then what would be the appropriate analogy for your experience? How God, or other Divine Beings, are like the sun. Existing at the Divine Vibrational Frequency. Neither human nor astral.
Maybe picture this Divine help like a lovely summer sun, at mid-day, burning brightly in a clear, blue sky.
Automatically when you cocreate with the Divine, a bright-and-flawless clarity will illuminate your human efforts.
Based on What You’ve Learned Here
Now We Can Solve Our Original Puzzle
When Sam would sit in session with Psychic Gladys, let’s suppose that she worked with a spirit at Rung 50 of the consciousness ladder.
If client and psychic were a good enough fit together, what does that suggest? Ordinarily, the typical quality of Sam’s made it interesting to him: Info related to Rung 50 of the consciousness ladder.
By contrast, what happened to Sam’s aura during each session of Energy Spirituality™?
Of course, his session was designed to help with emotional growth and/or spiritual awakening. Since that’s the overall purpose of the sessions given by all of us Energy Spirituality Experts.
And why is it that, by now, every single Energy Spirituality Expert is living in Spiritual Enlightenment?
For the same reason, I suspect, that clients grow as the result of their sessions. (Especially those who have more than the three sessions that Sam decided to have with me.)
- As a kind of afterglow from each “sunlit” session, for a few days afterward, what happened to Sam’s aura?
- His consciousness was elevated beyond Rung 50 of the consciousness ladder.
- And that’s why his psychic Gladys couldn’t even read his aura at such times. Her main spirit guide, or whatever, couldn’t see past Rung 50.
- After a week, Sam’s aura would go back to normal. Although he’d still keep the human benefits, and also the energetic benefits, from his session.
- Once his aura returned to normal, Sam and Gladys could continue to work together in their usual way. Insights about Rung 50 of the consciousness ladder? That’s what Sam decided he preferred… for a while, at least.
In Conclusion
Spiritual work really is different from psychic work. And vice-versa.

Yowza, MARY, this really was a witch. In the sense that she was doing White Magic or Black Magic… or any kind of magic.
My knowledge of magic isn’t extensive, except for this. One of the 10 trademarks of Energy Spirituality is the one for a form of past-life regression known as “Soul Energy Awakening Hypnosis®.”
Although I haven’t been offering these sessions since the Covid-19 Pandemic began — and won’t, until it’s reasonably safe to work with people in person, here in Sterling, Virginia — I’ve facilitated plenty of these sessions over the years.
For sure, this methodology is unsurpassed (in my experience, anyway) for moving out the most icky STUFF that can get stuck in people’s auras, Large-Intensity Frozen Blocks from this lifetime and also past incarnations…
All of it limiting a person’s life NOW.
In that way, what have I learned about doing magic… and the price a human being pays for getting involved in this kind of mess?

Continuing, then, I’ve learned quite a bit from guiding certain clients through Energy Spirituality ENERGY HEALING sessions where they re-experienced and received healing… Related to lifetimes where they got involved in magic.
Without exception — at least among the clients who came to me — once folks got involved in any form of magic or sorcery or witchcraft… This became a terrible addiction.
Akin to other forms of dependence on astral experiences — such as smoking weed, drinking alcoholic beverages, being a crack-head, etc.
(Let me know if you’d like me to provide links of articles about addicts whose auras I’ve read at this blog. Phillip Seymour Hoffman and Mike Lindell come to mind, for instances.)
Of course, MARY, every form of addiction has its own unique payoff. For instance, addiction to fame.
Distinctively this doesn’t necessarily include astral involvement but more popularity among humans. And I’d still call out fame as the most addictive drug on the planet.
How about the addictive payoff for somebody like that witch whom you let read your aura?
(Or try to. As already noted, her skills were lacking. In fact, she might not have been much of a witch, more a poseur who called herself a witch/empath….)
Doing even one little magic spell can become a slippery slope. Involving the payoffs of power over other humans, as well as being treated oh-so-nicely by the astral beings who help the magic bring results.
Sadly, once the witch is hooked, those astral beings may not remain “nice” at all. They wind up kind of owning that mortal… at least for the rest of that lifetime.
Just as a point of info then, MARY and other Blog-Buddies, avoid any form of witchcraft. It can become a dead-end way of living, where one can’t break free until after the end of the lifetime.
Pretty icky karma can result. As well as having a soul carry some really disgusting Large Intensity Frozen Blocks, during following lifetimes… at least until there’s successful healing. Soul Energy Awakening Hypnosis® is one method that works for this.
Without thinking hard at all, I think of two of my beloved clients who were able to remove frozen blocks of this nature.
I still remember the past-life review from one of those tarnished, so-reprehensible, tragic lifetimes.
My client “Gladys” had done such horrendous crimes that she was given a choice of karma-consequences in her next lifetimes. And a dreadful menu this was indeed!
As a hypothetical example, one of her choices (and she had to pick many) was to suffer seven lifetimes where she would be raped, again and again.
In short, friends don’t encourage friends to dabble in magic. No matter how pretty it sounds. Including whether this is presented as a beautiful religion.
When I return, MARY, let’s have a look at your Comment #175:
“and made up a special ornament for me to hang up for protection;”
Being neither a psychic nor a witch, MARY, I have no idea what about the ornament was supposed to bring you “protection.”
Also possible, since this person was a self-confessed fraud? The ornament actually did nothing, despite her words about “protection.”
Consumer tip: Why even accept this kind of thing? In the future don’t. End the session or business deal as soon as you suspect the ethics of the person you’re dealing with.
Accept any physical object from an unethical, possibly incompetent, witch? What kind of treasure is that?
How polite do you think you have to be, under the circumstances? This was no etiquette contest, MARY.
It would have been better had you never accepted it, a triumph of your personal discernment and right to live like a person — rather than somebody unduly worried about energies.
At least, as noted in your Comment #176, you did throw this trinket away.
Please note though, MARY and other Blog-Buddies, use your common sense as a human being about whether to throw things out. Or not accept them in the first place.
Don’t make choices based on “The questionable object’s ENERGY.”
In your final comment of this series, MARY, you used the expression “It just didn’t sit right with me.”
Glad you used that. Don’t folks generally use this about HUMAN things, like the taste some semi-spoiled milk?
If you’re wise, though, none of you Blog-Buddies will walk around feeling energies, looking for energies, making choices in terms of energies.

I met with someone who said they talk to their guides, she said she asks questions that require a yes or no answer. What does it mean?
I know speaking to guides is no longer safe since the start of the Age of Awakening…
So is there any way I can help her?
I feel like I have a responsibility to at least give her a fair warning by sharing this article.
CARL, yes, let’s go for those answers. For starters, what I’ll write in response to your questions is a supplement to information all you Blog-Buddies can find in one of my practical books for self-healing, “Use Your Power of Command for Spiritual Cleansing and Protection.”
Quite a lot of info about “guides” and chatting up guides can be found in that book.
In keeping with my general policy that makes my work manageable, I don’t rewrite what’s already in my books and post it in comments here at the blog. Our comments here are meant as a supplement to all those leading-edge paperbacks and eBooks.
That said, I’d like to respond first, CARL, to your wonderful Comment #236. First of all, what does it mean, “speaking to guides”?
Not the same thing as speaking to Girl Guides, as I believe Girl Scouts (in America) are called in England. ;-)
According to my understanding, human beings are always born with a guardian angel.
At a certain point in history, people were given a larger Angel Team, including a couple of spirit guides (right from birth).
By contrast, all humans living after the Shift into the Age of Awakening also have a Soul Expression Support. This is Divine level, unlike spirit guides that are astral level.

During the transitional years from 1980 until the Shift — what I call “The New Age Years” — it became fashionable for human beings to try to befriend their spirit guides and ask them for advice.
If you lived then you might have felt a lot of pressure to do so. (I sure did.)
You called it “speaking to guides” and also, in your Comment #235, “talk to their guides.”
I prefer the term “chatting up their guides.” Since so many people, including dear spiritual seekers I knew, made it a point of pride to get all chummy with their guides.
As a cautionary example, my friend Gladys definitely got chummy with her guides. Part gratitude, part excitement, maybe part bragging…
Gladys didn’t know what you know, Blog-Buddies, from reading the main article here. So she believed that Archangel Michael was her spirit guide. She’d brag to me how “Mikey” would always find her a good parking space.
I’d call Gladys’ story a cautionary tale, because this chatting up her “spirit guide” was like a gateway drug for her. Soon she was channeling and doing mediumship. Last I heard of her, she was doing some YouTube videos.
When I researched her aura, I found the consciousness lifestyle of Extreme Spiritual Addiction.
Doing any psychic development now, in the Age of Awakening, can lead to that consciousness lifestyle or else the milder — but still not great — consciousness lifestyle of Spiritual Addiction.
Not that this inevitably happens, but that’s the direction in which most seekers of psychic development have gone. Sadly, it isn’t good for us humans, asking discarnate spirits for advice or depending upon them for help.
As you wisely put it, EDWARD, “I know speaking to guides is no longer safe since the start of the Age of Awakening.”
During the New Age Years, folks could get away with doing it and their auras were fine, but no longer.
To understand why not, I recommend “The New Strong.”
In part, you’ll learn about “Opportunistic Astral Entities” in the Age of Awakening. This book contains a ton of additional useful information for all of us, since we’re living in that Age of Awakening.
Now that we’ve established a context, CARL, let’s turn to your Comment #235.
Let’s call your friend “Samantha.” She’s told you that she talks to her guides.
There are degrees of talking to guides, but I don’t recommend doing it at all. To the extent we do this, we’re giving one or more astral beings power over us.
When it comes to making our choices in life, God leaves us alone and allows us to grow by using free will.
Divine Beings don’t give us advice about what to do or where to go. And that’s the position of beings at the highest vibrational frequency.
Why would we ask astral beings for advice? They may not be nearly as spiritually evolved as the human requesting their “wisdom.”
Particularly in the case of discarnate entities who would show up when Samantha (or others) as for their “guidance.”
Two possibilities exist, concerning chatty “spirit guides” who give advice:
* Either they are random entities who lie, posing as spirit guides.
* Or else they are Samantha’s spirit guides, only they’ve become corrupted — which would explain why they break a spiritual law and start telling humans how to act.
Granted, CARL, there are degrees of involvement when folks mention that they talk to their guides.
At one extreme, folks can outsource all or much of their daily decision-making.
At the other extreme, somebody may be a bit of a hobbyist, and dabble in doing this important-seeming thing. (Important and “spiritual” in some social circles, anyway.)
Of course, involvement with guides could be anywhere between these extremes as well.
Based solely on your comments, CARL, it might be that Samantha isn’t very deeply involved.
For example, a common way of getting a yes or no answer — ascribed to one’s guides — is to use a pendulum or do muscle testing.
Pretty mild.
On the other hand, you gave a few comments here. Very likely you know more than you’ve written here. For instance, if Samantha talks about channeling that she’s done, or channeling that other people do and she respects it.
That would signal a much more serious involvement with discarnate spirits: Both a personal dependency and also more of a mess in her aura.
Finally, over to your Comment #237. It’s sweet that you, “feel like I have a responsibility to at least give her a fair warning by sharing this article.”
That would be a lovely thing to do. Although I wouldn’t consider that you have any responsibility to do so, more a caring thing to do.
Sure, invite her to read this. Better yet, give her a copy of “The New Strong.” Because, from the little you’ve written here, I have the impression that Samantha is now like many folks who don’t know the New Age Years are over, and they have only the vaguest ideas about what it means to live now in the Age of Awakening.
By all means, CARL, give Samantha a small something and then let her take the lead in learning more. Or else remaining on the path she currently follows.
No choice is more personal. Again, I think it’s really sweet of you that you’ve asked these questions.
In my life, some of the hardest lessons I’ve learned have involved letting other people to make their own choices, since they have just as much right to do that for themselves…
As I have to make the choices — for me — that are mine.
Related to Mary’s comments earlier, doesn’t that kind of space happens, Rose, when a client is in need of Soul Retrieval and Validation?
She didn’t want the healing. She accepted it anyway.
Also, she took the ornament. Later she threw it away. Not quite being there strongly in her own life, that’s what screamed out at me from Mary’s comments.
Overall, Mary seems to be kind of vague about her life, kind of spaced out. This does make me wonder if she would benefit, more than anything, from being a client for a session with you with Soul Retrieval and Validation.
Regarding psychic mediums, I read in the past on this blog that you admired renowned medium James Van Praagh.
I understand you’ve since expressed concerns about this type of work.
It seems extra time spent in the astral is detrimental to humans after the shift into 2012 (my understanding of your sentiments from what I’ve read here).

Yet much changed after the Shift into the Age of Awakening, on Dec. 21, 2012. Even people who know something about the start of this second era on Earth… are often ill informed about what happened. For clarity I’d recommend reading the article at the link just provided.
In Comment #271, CASSANDRA, you referred to “my understanding of your sentiments.”
Excuse me. I use trademarked systems for researching what happens to auras, chakra databanks, and consciousness. This Energy Spirituality blog contains — in part — a considerable amount of research of this kind.
Most recently I’ve been providing a service article for seekers of Spiritual Enlightenment, researching whether certain revered Enlightenment Teachers were even, personally in Enlightenment.
This is professional-level, dedicated research into chakra databanks. Not “sentiments.”
For more examples of research using Stage 3 Energetic Literacy and also, in recent years, using even more advanced skills for exploring what really is going on within a person’s aura…

I wonder if the one exception to this would be psychic medium Theresa Caputo?
She gives messages of consolation from departed loved ones and seems utterly unaffected by it.
She is this big down to earth, zippy, personality.
The furthest thing from spaced out or overtaken by the astral.
CASSANDRA, Theresa Caputo does sound impressive from your description. For you, as an admirer of her work, it isn’t really necessary for you to pay attention beyond her personality.
Around here, at the Energy Spirituality® Blog, that’s called using Stage 1 Energetic Literacy. The video at the link just provided can bring perspective on this, most common, way of gaining an impression about somebody, vibing them out, assessing them based on “personality” etc.
Just to round out the picture a little, the second most popular way to gain insight into what people are like energetically… is to do Chakra Readings. No doubt, you’ve heard of that too, CASSANDRA.

Although, guess what? You’ve referred to the Shift into the Age of Awakening. Did you know that one of the ways consciousness subtly changed — which is where to look for the results of the Shift, imo. Did you know…
It became possible for seekers of truth about people to develop degrees of energetic literacy that are much higher, and more useful, and far more accurate.
Fortunately, a person doesn’t need clairvoyance to develop these skills. They’re simply skills that take a little time and practice. These skills involve cocreating with the Divine, not working with spirits.
I’m going to do some sample research of a few chakra databanks belonging to Theresa Caputo, just to give you — and other readers — a picture of how much better we can all do now, getting to learn about how people are doing regarding specific aspects of life. And also regarding pinpointing that person’s “consciousness lifestyle.”
But before heading there, you have more to say. Back to your original comments….
What’s her secret formula? On the other hand, while I do admire how she manages to maintain her very grounded human self despite her line of work, I do wonder if the spirits communicating with her are actually the purported departed loved ones, family members of her clients…or just random astral entities reading the minds of her clients and then passing it off as messages from loved ones.
So, you’re trying to understand what goes on with this psychic medium.
With all due respect, you’re speculating. As in “I do wonder.”
One advantage of good skills of energetic literacy is that it isn’t necessary to speculate, make theories, etc.
James Van Praagh had a similar practice and no matter who the medium is, I’ve always wondered if that’s what was actually going on.
Whether the medium was aware of it or not.
There’s more well meant speculation. At many blogs, surely, this would be the gold standard.
